VANITY SCHOOL is in session!

After a really fantastic event (I’M SO VAIN) this past June, we have decided to team up again with ilaika, as the Creative Director for another installment of Vanity Events – VANITY SCHOOL! The first ‘semester’ is August 31st at GAFAS Optical Shop at 561 Queen Street West in Toronto ON.

ilaika & v:space studio are proud to announce VANITY SCHOOL the latest addition to the VANITY EVENTS – a series of social events focused on beauty and beauty education.

The FIRST SEMESTER of VANITY SCHOOL will take place on Wednesday AUGUST 31st 2011 at GAFAS OPTICAL SHOP, located in the heart of Queen West (561 Queen Street West) in downtown Toronto. The first semester class of VANITY SCHOOL will commence at 6pm and conclude at 9pm. “Vanity Students” will have the opportunity to learn tips and tricks from the VANITY SCHOOL FACULTY of Beauty Experts – which include hair styists, make-up artists, nailcare specialists and other beauty-related experts and companies.

The LESSON PLAN will include topics such as: “I want a PONY! Creating the perfect ponytail”, “Perfecting Falsies – How to apply strip false lashes” and “Nail Me Quick! Quick Fixes for putting your best nails forward”. Vanity Students will have the opportunity to have one-on-one consultations with the Vanity Faculty, for advice on maintenance between spa/salon appointments, specific beauty concerns, application techniques, the right tools, using the correct products and expert tricks for transforming their look from day to evening.

Located in trendy Queen West Toronto, the VANITY SCHOOL will follow in the same footsteps of “I’M SO VAIN | the vanity event”, the successful inagural event in the series of VANITY EVENTS produced by ilaika & v:space studio. GAFAS is a casual, modern lofty-type venue, where attendees can get advice directly from the experts and enjoy an evening of beauty and mingling with fellow Vanity Students.

Karen + Kim visit Markaz for VIP Rooftop Patio Opening

It’s the start of Patio Season in Toronto, and we got invited to the VIP Rooftop Patio of MARKAZ Grill & Shisha Lounge. Not your typical patio, we were greeted by lush Morrocan-inspired lounge decor, red flowing curtains, and Shishas – their specialty. The VIP portion of the rooftop patio, is located to the front of the patio, facing Richmond Street – and is flanked by 2 large white booths and a few smaller lounge areas. We were able to taste the amazing appetizers, and the mint tea (yum!) – and best of all a Shisha (we had the honey melon flavour).

Located in the heart of the club district at 222 Richmond Street West, it a quaint place to definitely spend an afternoon soaking in the sun, sharing a shisha, and having some amazing food, with great friends! This venue is definitely a little gem in the downtown area…. next location for a v:space event? ;)

Wedding Wednesday | ‘Inn Love’

We love great events, and one of our recent client’s EMILY GRAY, Fashion Stylist (based out of the West Coast), has been involved in Victoria’s first high-style, high-end wedding expose. The event “Inn Love” (March 5th 2011) was designed for couples seeking a unique wedding, and is being hosted in BC’s own first carbon neutral hotel. Emily is co-producing as a Style Director, and her role involves overseeing all fashion-related aspects and vendors included the event, and also curating the runway fashion show.

“Promoting the best of the best in the West Coast bridal industry, set as an evening cocktail styled event, guests will be enjoying tray served nibbles created by the Inn at Laurel Point, and bubbly refreshments…A high-style runway show will sweep couples away into wedding day bliss. Inspired and excited, guests will mingle with vendors throughout the night, getting a chance to know the local vendors whom will take part in making their special day perfect.

Inn Love with the environment. The event is promoted as “paperless “, hosted by BC’s own first carbon neutral hotel. No walking around with huge bags of marketing material, that may just get thrown away. Instead letting the couples have a true hands on, stress-free experience, while maintaining an environmentally friendly conscience.”

As we are based in Toronto, we are unable to attend and take part of this great event, but if you are in the west coast, we hope that you can make it there!
On another note – we have been working with Emily to create her personal stationery. It is definitely chic, and evokes a sense of fashion and personal touch…. more on her stationery another time (stay tuned!)
